STEAK NECKLACE ANYONE? ............... LABOR DAY WEEKEND IN THE WINDY CITY

Published by Atinuke Adelek for Zuri Perle on 15th Sep 2017

I’ve always been a sucker for family vacations, no matter how short or long they may be. It’s always a great opportunity for us to unwind, explore new places and even get the opportunity to learn more about ourselves and the people we’re with.

In these photos, we took a quick vacation to the home of deep dish pizzas, jazz and old school gangsters- Chicago, to celebrate Labor Day weekend.

As a jewelry designer, I love jewelry but hate having to pack a different piece to compliment all my outfits. My solution, find a piece that works with all my outfits.......ta da.... easier said than done though. How do you pick that perfect piece? It has to be the right color, perfect length to go with just about any outfit and must not restrict your outfit choice.

Black is always a safe choice but I don't like playing it safe so my choice for this trip was my “steak necklace” fondly named by hubby LOL. Can you guess why?

It’s a fresh water pearl necklace with an agate slice pendant. The subtle nude tones in the fresh water pearls make it the perfect accent piece for any outfit.

All smiles looking forward to family time :)

We definitely got to do a lot of things in Chicago but my favorite was being able to visit the “Bean” located at the AT & T Plaza at the Millennium Park. I’m sure you’re all familiar with it but knowing about it and actually seeing it in person is a completely different experience. I was amazed at its beauty structure and its amazing reflective properties that beautifully showed of the Chicago skyline. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend that you do!

Early morning is the best time to visit the bean, you get to watch a beautiful sunrise, not a lot of people at the site that early and you get to take pics with less people in your way

Fashion wise, I wanted to make sure I was dressed appropriately for whatever activities we had so a bright and colorful ensemble for the day and a cool-toned outfit with a pop of color during the evening seemed about right.

In the evenings, I also made sure to carry along one of my favorite jackets just in case it got chilly and I’m so glad that I did! Chicago isn't called the "windy city" for nothing :)
